For the last 3 years Rocky Mountain Outfitters has conducted a study on the lake trout population of Grand Lake.  Our findings were not what we had hoped.  We concluded a population of 1800 lake trout left.  This summer the Colorado Parks and Wildlife conducted their own more thorough study.  Early estimates are in the 2000-2500 range.  Let's get the population back up by practicing catch and release.

After all that fishing, you might have a taste for the trout you released. The Historic Rapids Lodge and Restaurant at the very east end of town has trout on the menu, also elk and were consistently voted best steak by the Grand County residents. We feature Colorado Lamb, too. Now, lets talk about our bar: Colorado Strannahans, ask Sioux to make you a Colorado Manhattan, Tatyanna will make you the best dessert martini to finish off your exquisite meal. Hope to see you there!
